At Beyond The Stage Homes, we pride ourselves on having an outstanding team of professionals and Nicole Sartorelli, one of our Professional Home Stagers, is the perfect example of the passion and experience that we bring to each of our projects. We recently sat down with her to get to know what drives her and get insights on how she approaches each unique home staging project. Born in London, ON and raised in Ottawa, Nicole came to Waterloo Region in 1996 with her family when her mother relocated for work. She likens her experience today working with a team of strong-minded women to her Ringette days in Ottawa, hustling and skating the entire length of the Rideau Canal to the smell of “hot chocolate and beaver tails”.
As a professional home stager, Nicole is responsible for providing actionable advice to home sellers and agents on how to effectively prepare a property for sale. She manages and oversees every project from consultation to de-stage and is involved in every aspect of the process, including designing the strategy, preparing and packing all required staging rental items, coordinating logistics for staging day, and ensuring that clients have all of the answers that they need throughout the project.
When asked about what she enjoys most about her role, Nicole explained that the three aspects of her job that equally fill her cup are the consultations, staging design planning, and installation. With the consultations, she loves to meet new people, hear their stories, see their homes, and provide solutions to help them by discussing strategies to maximize equity and ROI.
In the design aspect, she carefully considers buyer behaviour in all of her staging designs, including scale, continuity, flow, and purpose, and challenges herself to curate unique spaces in every home she styles and stages.
The cherry on top is the installation. Although she admits that she doesn't like exercise, she enjoys the physical activity involved in the installation process, between moving furniture, running accessories all over the house, and sometimes going up and down stairs a million times, she can always count on getting her steps in during an installation.
Nicole possesses a unique set of skills that have contributed to her success in her role. With industry experience in both sales/marketing and decorating/design, she can provide a consultative approach that utilizes her relationship management skills. Marketing allows her to better understand buyer behaviour, while the formal training ensures she understands the 'why and how' of the process. Parenting has taught her patience and empathy, and passion fuels her soul and reflects in all that she does. After years in the corporate world, then a few years spent “momming”, Nicole was looking to feed her soul and wanted to sink her teeth into something that would really fuel her. With a creative spirit, Nicole pursued studies in decorating and design and found gratification in the design industry (the installations especially). “Although I love all aspects of interior design the install is the reward for me. I can’t express the gratification I experience when I stand back & take it all in. In comes Staging & my pursuit of happiness. I joined the BTSH team, furthered my education & hit the ground running & haven’t looked back”
So what does Nicole enjoy when she's not working? Well, she confessed that she loves her work so much that it is her interest and hobby. However, she does enjoy a good bottle of red wine paired with delicious food, has a great appreciation for fine dining, and loves to travel. Her heart is full when she gets to unwind and enjoy time with her little family and amazing friends.
Lastly, we asked her about her goals for the future, both personally and professionally. Personally, she wants to raise a happy, kind, smart, confident daughter and continue to always put her happiness and marriage first. Professionally, she wants to always feel joy in her work, with the intention to retire (but not really want to).
